Engineering skills shortage here to stay
The economic downturn has failed to ease the engineering skills shortage, says the Association of Consulting Engineers Australia.
Speaking after the release of the Association's annual skills survey, chief executive Megan Motto said the data showed the engineering skills shortage was "systemic, not cyclical", and was unaffected by economic peaks and troughs.
The most severe shortage was in geotechnical engineering, the survey found, followed by the civil and structural disciplines, and environmental engineering.
It also showed mid-level and senior professionals were the hardest to source.
